We offer to purchase Birth Marriage and Death Certificates either from the Local Registrar or the General Registrar's Office.

What can I expect to find from a Certificate of Birth Marriage or Death

Full Birth Certificates contain:

Date of birth
Place of birth (street address, often just an area, farm, village)
Forenames of the child
Gender of child
Forename, surname, and maiden name of the mother
Forename and surname of the father (blank for illegitimate)
Occupation of the father
Informant's name, address and relationship to the child
Date of registration
Signature of registrar


Marriage Certificates contain:

Date and place of marriage
Names and marital status of the bride and groom
Current address and occupation of the bride and groom
Ages of the bride and groom (sometimes given as 'of full age' - over 21)
Names and occupations of the bride and groom's fathers
Names of witnesses


Death Certificates contain:

Name of the deceased and their occupation
Date and place of death
Name, address and relationship if any of the informant
Given Age at death
Occupation (or name and occupation of husband if the deceased was a married or widowed woman)
Name, address and family relationship (if any) of the person who reported the death.
Cause of death

On 1st July 1927, registration of the death of stillborn commenced. After 1 April 1969, the date and place of birth of the deceased and the maiden name (in the case of a married woman) are also given.
